Smooth Bottom
End and side adjustment of cutters. Cutters one solid piece of fine, high carbon steel well ground and polished. Bottoms and sides nicely polished. Inside of bottoms finished in glossy black enamel, frogs in red enamel. Lever cap polished, nickeled and buffed. Selected rosewood knobs and handles.
Smooth Planes are used for finishing broad, flat surfaces. They are short in length so that low spots can be reached if the surface is uneven.

Additional Notes:
Even though various catalogs stated that this plane was 7 inches long it was, in fact, slightly over 8 inches in length.
On early models the number was cast into the body around the front knob. The knobs were made from rosewood (cocobolo).
