Bottom a fine gray iron casting. Bottom and sides milled and polished. Inside black enameled. Plane iron of good quality steel, carefully hardened and tempered. Knob handle hardwood with black lacquer finish. Top half of clamp lever handle red enameled. Nickel plated clamp screw. (1938 description)
